We have made sure that our school community understands what it means to be seeking sanctuary and the issues surrounding forced migration.

We are delighted to have become a School of Sanctuary after receiving accreditation from City of Sanctuary UK. These awards recognise and celebrate those who go above and beyond in welcoming people who seek sanctuary.
Our school has always been inclusive and welcoming, celebrating the diversity that makes our community so wonderful. Recently we have worked hard to make sure our school community understands what it means to seek sanctuary and the issues surrounding forced migration.
A big part of this was our successful Refugee Week – a week in which we celebrated all of the different cultures and faiths, and learned about the different languages of everyone who help make our school community as strong as it is.
SENDCo Ms. McGowan said: “We were so proud to receive our award at Birkenhead Town Hall this week. We will continue to celebrate diversity and to offer a warm welcome to all those that would like to be part of our community.”
Families across Wirral, are invited to take part in this fun and engaging activity, which will provide all the ingredients – and a sprinkling of cooking advice and encouragement – to prepare a range of balanced meals for all the whole family to enjoy.
All those taking part in the challenge will be able to collect a nutritional Food Box containing all the ingredients and recipes needed to make meals together, directly from your school.
It would be great if families could share their photos and videos of having fun together
#WIRRALCOOKTOGETHER on social media for a chance to win some fantastic prizes for the whole family to enjoy together.
Once registered, each school will be given a collection day, 1 in January, 1 in February and 1 in March for families to collect from school, each family will receive 3 boxes one for each month.
This project is funded by Wirral Council through the Department for Work & Pensions COVID Local Support Grant.
